How To Get Free Real Estate Leads From Your Facebook Profile Photo
In this video, you’ll learn…
- The difference between a page and a profile
- The best types of profile photos to upload
- How to optimize your profile photo
- How to optimize your page photo
- How to optimize your cover photo
Facebook Page vs Facebook Profile
It is against Facebook Terms of Service to use your personal profile for commercial gain. So if you’re using your Personal Profile as a Business Page, Facebook has every right to shut your account down.
I’d rather be safe than sorry, so I’m always compliant.
Let’s talk about what types of things go on your Page and what types of things go on your Profile.
YOUR PROFILE IS PERSONAL
It’s a place where you can connect with your friends, your family, your sphere.
It’s also a place where you can add past clients, send private messages, and promote your business indirectly.
You want to be very, very careful about what you say and how you say it.
“I’m at an open house” or “I’m out with clients”
These are very indirect promotions and should be fine to say on your profile.
You don’t want to say something like…
“Click here to see my new listing.”
That would be a direct violation of Facebook’s Terms of Service.
I know a lot of real estate agents do that, but again, you want to stay safe versus sorry.
YOUR PAGE IS PROMOTIONAL
Your page as a place where you can capture, cultivated, collect, and connect with leads.
You can also invite past clients to like your Page and send direct messages.
But the best part?
You can promote directly on your page.
So if it’s a direct promotion of your business, like a new listing or an open house that you’re doing and you want people to take an action, then you’re going to want to reserve that for your Page so that you don’t violate the Terms of Service.
Also, if you’re running ads, it has to come from your page.
You cannot run an ad on your facebook profile.
Facebook Profile Photo Optimization
Your profile photo is the first thing that people see. It follows you everywhere, all over facebook, your local groups, all of your friends and families see it. So you want to make sure that it’s friendly, well lit, looks good, even when it’s shrunk it down all the way to a tiny thumbnail.
Remember some people are on mobile and even on a desktop it’s really, really small. So just make sure that it looks good even when it’s shrunken down.
You also want to make sure that you don’t change it too often. Your face is actually the most recognizable characteristic of your brand. So for brand consistency, don’t change your profile photo very often.
Most people don’t know this, but there’s a secret area that’s attached to your Profile Photo that can actually be optimized for lead generation. But since this is on your Profile, as opposed to your Page, we can’t be too direct with our business marketing, but I’ll show you a couple of sneaky ways to promote your business indirectly, while still abiding by the Facebook Terms of Service.
When you click on your profile photo, you’ll have an opportunity to edit the text. When you do, state who you are, what you do, and where they can find you – Either a website or a phone number (see the video above for a full tutorial).
So if someone happens to see you in a facebook group, or somewhere online, and they come across your personal profile… They can now click on it and see all of your information – Even if you’re not friends with them Facebook.
This is a really great feature if you’re a part of a real estate referral group. If people happen to click on your Profile photo, and they do, that referring agent can now check you out and see what you’re all about.
Facebook Page Photo Optimization
Your Page photo is similar to your Profile photo, but the difference is that people only see your Page photo if they actually click on your business page or if you respond to a post on your business page.
In regards to best practices, if you have to choose between a logo or a photo for your Page photo, always choose a photo.
Remember it’s social media. People want to interact with people, not logos.
Also, if you choose a team photo, make sure that it’s also friendly, well-lit, and looks good – even when it’s shrunken down to a tiny thumbnail.
Just like your Profile photo, your Page photo also has a secret area that can be optimized. Since it’s your Business page, you can be as promotional as you like. So if you wanted to link a free home evaluation or some other offer, you can (see the video above for a full tutorial).
It’s a great place to collect leads!
Facebook Cover Photo Optimization
Your Facebook Cover Photo is the billboard of your brand. So you want to use colors, fonts, and photos that are on brand.
And because this is a billboard, you can include brand promotions, calls to action, or even videos!
You can even change it as often as you’d like…
Calls To Action
…Or anything else you can think of!
Finally, there’s also a secret area attached to your cover photo that you can optimize as well. Surprise, surprise!
All you have to do is mouse over the cover photo, then upload a photo or video of your choice (see the video above for a full tutorial).
Once you have the photo (or video) set, just mouse over it again, and click the 3 dots to optimize and edit the secret area.
Facebook Cover Photo Dimensions
Facebook changes the dimensions of the cover photos very often – most of the time without notice.
So be sure to check your Cover Photos on both desktop and mobile periodically to make sure that they both look good on each of the devices.
