As a Realtor®, have you ever been through a real estate training or real estate coaching program that taught marketing tactics that felt gross, sleazy, or cheesy?
If so, it probably felt that way because the tactic you were taught didn’t line up with your core values.
Be Careful Who You Listen To
I’ve been on hundreds of 1:1 breakthrough calls with my clients, and the one thing I KEEP hearing over and over is this:
“Aarin, I’m coming to you because I’m so tired of real estate coaches teaching me to “trick people into real estate transactions. I just can’t do it anymore.”
After hearing this a couple of times, I didn’t think too much about it. But when that number started approaching double digits, I started to take pause.
Stop Tricking People Into Transactions
I’m just going to come right out and say it… I’m shocked and appalled by the number of real estate gurus that are teaching this trash. If you have to trick people into transactions, you shouldn’t be in real estate. Period.
The thing is, you’re not selling widgets.
You’re selling the MOST important financial decision that most people will make in their entire life.
If you’re participating in these tactics, you should be ashamed of yourself for playing around with people’s futures. Situations like this are what is dragging this industry through the mud and it’s the reason why good, heart-centered agents are having a harder time working with clients.
Think about it like this…
Every client is someone’s child, mother, sister, brother, father, or friend. What if someone treated your child like that? Or your mother? How would that make you feel? To know that someone you love was tricked into something by some sleazeball?
I’m guessing you wouldn’t like it one bit.
I’ve been taught my whole life that you should do unto others as you would have done unto you. As a Realtor®, it’s imperative that you operate in extreme integrity at all times.
Your Business Is A Mirror
Everything you do in life is a mirror.
The Bible teaches that you “reap what you sow.”
Physics says, “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”
What goes around comes around. It’s a law, you can’t escape it. It’s like gravity. You don’t have to believe it, but if you jump from a high place, you’ll discover very quickly that it’s real and it exists.
Your real estate business is no different.
- If you want clients who are honest with you, you need to be honest with them.
- If you want sellers who are happy to pay your full commission, stop being cheap.
- If you want buyers who don’t waste your time, stop asking for free stuff.
- If you want your business to make you money, start investing money into your business.
- You cannot escape cause-and-effect… So stop trying.
You can be Ethical. Even If Your Competitors Aren’t
The bad news is that there are a few bad apples that are still teaching this trash to real estate agents and making it hard for the rest of us.
The good news is that they’re not going to be around much longer, because agents, like you, are looking for a change.
You don’t have to listen or follow bad advice.
You have an alternative option.
